The official trailer for the upcoming Hulu series, “Nine Perfect Strangers” is finally here.

“Good Morning America” exclusively debuted a look at the official trailer on Thursday for the upcoming eight-episode drama, premiering Wednesday, Aug. 18.

The Jonathan Levine-directed series is based on Australian author Liane Moriarty’s 2018 bestselling novel of the same name.

In the nearly three-minute trailer for the miniseries, viewers meet Masha (Nicole Kidman), the leader of a 10-day wellness retreat at Tranquillum House that nine strangers visit “to reinvigorate their tired minds and bodies.”

According to the show’s synopsis, “these nine ‘perfect’ strangers have no idea what is about to hit them.”

“You want to get well? You want to heal?” Masha asks the retreat participants in the clip, “Surrender yourself to me.”

The star-studded cast of the series also includes Melissa McCarthy, Luke Evans, Regina Hall, Michael Shannon, Bobby Cannavale, Asher Keddie, Samara Weaving, Melvin Gregg, Manny Jacinto, Grace Van Patten and Tiffany Boone. (GMA)

Video: Samara talks ‘Snake Eyes’ with Collider

The first “Snake Eyes” press junket video has just surfaced online! Samara met with Collider to discuss their costumes, her thoughts on Snake Eyes and Scarlett having a relationship in the sequel, her stunt double Jacqueline Lee Geurts (who has been her stunt double since Ash vs Evil Dead), as well as her upcoming films Babylon and Chevalier de Saint-Georges. Check it out below!

Collider | With director Robert Schwentke’s Snakes Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins opening this weekend in theaters, I recently spoke with Samara Weaving about playing Scarlett in the Snake Eyes movie.. During the fun interview, Weaving talked about what people would be surprised to learn about the making of the film, why even though the costumes look awesome on screen they can be tough to work with, her thoughts on Snake Eyes and Scarlett having a relationship in a sequel, why she loves her stunt double (Jacqueline Lee Geurts), and more.

In addition, with Weaving currently filming Damien Chazelle’s next movie, Babylon, she talked about why she wanted to be part of the project and how she’s getting ready to film Chevalier de Saint-Georges with Kelvin Harrison Jr. in Prague soon. While not much is known about Babylon, it’s supposedly set in the late 1920s as the film industry shifts from silent films to talkies and the incredible cast is made up of Margot Robbie, Brad Pitt, Katherine Waterston, Max Minghella, Olivia Wilde, Tobey Maguire, Phoebe Tonkin, and filmmaker Spike Jonze.

If you haven’t seen the trailers, Snake Eyes tells the story of how Snake Eyes (Henry Golding) and Storm Shadow (Andrew Koji) met and how their brotherly relationship fell apart. The film also introduces Úrsula Corberó as The Baroness, Haruka Abe as Akiko, Tahehiro Hira as Kenta, Iko Uwais as Hard Master, and Peter Mensah as Blind Master.

The launch of two new sections: Press archives and Video vault!

We’re very excited to reveal two new sections here at Samara Weaving Heaven today, our press archives and video vault! I’ve been working hard on both over the last two weeks, and decided to launch them now while I continue to make them even more comprehensive over the next days. The press archives contain articles, interviews, film reviews and more of Samara, all collected in one page so that you can easily find your favorite tidbits! Check it out here.

Our video vault currently holds 125 videos, and they are organized as neatly as I could possibly manage for easy browsing! The archive contains extensive coverage from all of Samara’s films (trailers, scenes, behind the scenes footage, premiere footage, promotional interviews and more), as well as behind the scenes footage from photoshoots and Samara’s Louis Vuitton campaigns. I’m still working on the television section, but with the exception of “Hollywood” there should be a couple of videos from all her TV projects already! Plenty more will come in the coming days. You can browse our collection of videos here.

I hope you enjoy these new additions to SWH, and stay tuned for more content updates in the next days as I begin to tackle the career pages. I will also have some exclusive outtakes to share with you very soon…

First look at Nine Perfect Strangers (Video)

The first official trailer for Samara’s upcoming Hulu mini-series “Nine Perfect Strangers” has been released! Check it out below, and learn more about the project in the article attached at the bottom of the post. The show arrives on Hulu on August 18th, 2021.

Vanity Fair | TV fans who became addicted to the twists and turns of Big Little Lies or The Undoing will be pleased to know there’s a new mystery on the horizon, just waiting to suck them in. Nine Perfect Strangers reunites David E. Kelley, Nicole Kidman, and author Liane Moriarty for an all-new surprising adventure, this time set in Kidman and Moriarty’s home country of Australia. But even if you think you know what to expect from this trio of creators, Kelley cautioned Vanity Fair to think again: “This one’s a bit wild.”

Moriarty’s book Nine Perfect Strangers takes place at a remote, upscale health-and-wellness resort that promises healing and transformation for nine stressed city dwellers. Overseeing their journey is enigmatic and possibly dangerous resort director Masha, played with unsettling serenity by Kidman. The cast is packed with familiar TV and film faces, including Michael Shannon, Luke Evans, Regina Hall, Bobby Cannavale, Samara Weaving, Melvin Gregg, Manny Jacinto, Asher Keddie, Grace Van Patten, and Tiffany Boone. At the center of both the novel and the show is Frances, a successful writer looking for guidance in her personal life, played by Melissa McCarthy.

As Masha and Frances embark on this emotional and chaotic journey, Kidman and McCarthy are given plenty of opportunity to spark off each other. “They are both wildly funny, moving, and unpredictable,” Kelley said. “Characters who surprise, charm, and sometimes shock—played by two incredibly gifted performers.”

Masha, her staff, and these nine “perfect” strangers clash during a retreat filled with experimental therapies that stretch the imagination. “One could be inclined to dismiss the construct as too absurd, but it would be a mistake,” Kelley said. “The series is ultimately rooted in human pathologies, and what leaps out as ridiculous gets very real. The goal was to deliver a fun ride which emotionally resonates. A hoot with a sniffle chaser.”

The premise of Moriarty’s book is not all that dissimilar from that of the series Lost or a variety of shows that have drawn inspiration from it. The various attendees at this retreat come burdened with a wide range of baggage, from personal loss to addiction to crises of self-image. Whatever assumptions audiences make will be challenged over the course of eight episodes as the characters’ backstories unfold. What Nine Perfect Strangers has that those other stories don’t is the wild and wonderful setting of the Tranquillum House spa.

This new teaser is premiering on the eve of Global Wellness Day as a nod to the show’s (occasionally absurd) setting. “The self-improvement thing has become difficult to parody, but I think we manage,” Kelley said. “We do have our share and fun and nonsense. But underlying the craziness, people are broken. They hurt. They want to heal. There’s struggle everywhere. In success, we both laugh and cry with these characters.”

For a better sense of what that tone might look like, it’s helpful to consider that every episode of the series is directed by Jonathan Levine, whose catalog of work includes comedies with plenty of pathos: 50/50, The Wackness, and Long Shot. After quarantining for 14 days per Australian law, Levine and his cast shot on location in Byron Bay, New South Wales, last year during the pandemic. “Extraordinary work by Jonathan Levine and our entire crew,” Kelley said of the pandemic-safe production. “No easy task. Honestly, I still cannot believe they pulled it off.”

The first three episodes of Nine Perfect Strangers will debut on Hulu on August 18.
